Marc Sofer
Founding Partner

Our team is led by Marc Sofer, a seasoned founder and investor dedicated to catalysing startup growth and innovation through funding, strategy, and network. He is experienced in various asset classes and establishing, developing, and exiting businesses over a 20+ year career in the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Caribbean. Marc is Chair of the award-winning Byron Bay Angels,  a Unit Writer in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Southern Cross University, and Board Advisor to startups and scaleups across Australia and the UK. Actively involved in the venture ecosystem, Marc is a Startmate Mentor and Airtree Explorer, and works with some of the largest and most successful venture capital funds in the country.

In 2010 he co-founded Kingsgate Capital, a UK investment company, and founded the MSSEC Group, managing investments since 2005. Today Marc maintains a Non-Executive Director role in both organisations. 

 Voluntary roles include Board Director and Investment Committee member at the NRCF,  mentor at Sourdough Business Pathways, and previously the Investment Committee Chair at The Community Well.

Marc studied Venture Finance under DP World Professor of Entrepreneurship Thomas Hellmann (Oxford University), is a member of the Institute of Community Directors Australia, and has gained various accolades during his career, including the ‘Britain’s Young Business Leader’ award.
